Halfway Home is a five-piece post-hardcore band formed in 2021 in Buckinghamshire, England. Combining emotionally charged melodies with powerful riffs, their music delves into themes of self-exploration and introspection. Their debut EP, Autumn, features standout tracks like "Denbigh Road," showcasing their raw, reflective lyrical approach paired with dynamic soundscapes. Their upcoming EP, Winter, evolves their signature style, incorporating darker, metalcore-inspired elements while maintaining the emotional resonance that defines their sound.
Known for their compelling stage presence and emotionally raw delivery, Halfway Home has steadily built a reputation through live performances. They’ve shared stages with other emerging acts across the UK and made multiple appearances at alternative festivals in 2024, further cementing their place as a rising force in the post-hardcore scene.
Addy Walker serves as the frontman and primary lyricist of Halfway Home, a band he co-founded with guitarist Stu Potter. Known for his powerful, introspective lyrics and dynamic vocal intensity, Addy brings emotional depth to the band's music. In an interview with Zennith Press, he described the band as "not only family, creativity and a social output but the greatest form of therapy I could ever hope to find." Prior to Halfway Home, he was the frontman and lyricist for pop-punk band 'One State Drive' and bassist for metalcore band 'The Last Exit' with fellow member Stu Potter.
Stu Potter, guitarist and co-founder of Halfway Home, is recognized for his powerful and stylised riffs and chords progressions, a style honed through years in various metal projects of differing styles including his own solo album and in metalcore band 'The Last Exit' alongside fellow member Addy Walker. Stu played a pivotal role in shaping the band's early sound, independently championing many of their initial demos and adds to the bands live vocals consistently across their works. Metal Noise described his playing as "a blistering assault of deep crushing riffs and motifs."
Luke Quincey, guitarist of Halfway Home brings a diverse musical background to their sound, having played in rock, indie, blues, and function bands while releasing independent electronic albums. His signature clean ambience and anthemic rock lead guitar lines contribute significantly to the band's emotive sound.
Formerly the bassist recording on their debut and sophmore EPs, Aarron Beveridge now spearheads Halfway Home's holistic production including but not limited to synths, subs and piano. His vision for musical soundscapes and progression has been central to the band's evolution. GBHBL Magazine described his production as "a cataclysm of power bursting forth from refined, thought-out musical stylings." Although he no longer plays live with the band, Aarron remains a central figure in their creative process.
Joining after the release of their debut EP 'AUTUMN' Chris Mackender infused Halfway Home with a more intense and unrelenting drumming style that is vital to the post-hardcore textures of their second EP 'WINTER'. With roots in extreme metal and experience in various genres, his addition brought heavier and darker elements to contrast the band's ambient tones. Chris has performed with numerous bands across the UK, including 'Rats Eat Rats,' 'As Heaven Falls,' and the dreampop band 'Sleeprs,' alongside fellow member Kat Gough.
Completing the lineup during the release of their EP 'Winter,' Kat Gough has toured extensively with Halfway Home, adding depth and weight to their sound. Her ethereal backing vocals are a consistent feature throughout the band's modernised discography. Previously, she performed as a solo act and with the dreampop project 'Sleeprs,' alongside fellow member Chris Mackender, bringing a unique dynamic and sound to Halfway Home.
